Our Portfolios

Health and social policy

Health, healthcare and related community and social policy in Australia represents a significant regulatory and policy enterprise. As such, Health and Social Policy is a key portfolio area within Parker & Partners. We have significant depth and breadth of expertise in the private, public and non-government health sectors. Our Health and Social Policy portfolio staff are experienced professionals with backgrounds as ministerial advisers, senior bureaucrats, policy analysts and media and communications specialists.

Our strong relationships with mainstream and trade health media, as well as political and bureaucratic health stakeholders enables us to work with our clients towards achieving outcomes. Parker & Partners has worked with clients on a number of hugely successful Health and Social Policy campaigns, including the campaign for the renowned cervical cancer vaccine GARDASIL, which is now available free to every Australian school girl. In addition, Parker & Partners has worked with Abbott pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca, Carers Australia, Cochlear, the Jean Hailes Foundation, the Heart Foundation and on several successful CSL Limited campaigns.

P&P has extensive experience and skilled specialists in the area of ICT and Defence. We have senior consultants with ICT credentials from both inside government and from industry. P&P consultants have worked as an ICT Adviser to various Ministers for Communications, IT and the Arts as well as for AGIMO. ICT and Defence Leader Simon Bush is a former Ministerial Adviser and has worked for over 6 years for global leading ICT consultancy Accenture first heading up its corporate communications division and in recent years helping its government business.

P&P has successfully worked with major defence clients assisting them in winning contracts worth billions of dollars such as Tenix's $7 billion Anzac ship program. Our clients past and present include: Microsoft, Google, Tenix, Unisys, Accenture, JP Morgan, CA, PA Consulting and Telstra.

Agriculture and FMCG

Parker & Partners has extensive experience in the Agriculture and FMCG sector. We have a successful track record in the areas of stakeholder management, importing and exporting issues, influencing regulation, government relations and media liaison and analysis. We are constantly abreast of policy, media commentary and issues that arise within the Agriculture and FMCG sphere.

Our Agriculture and FMCG team has a broad range of experience across a number of clients operating in this sphere including Kraft, Unilever, Goodman Fielder, Central Markets Association of Australia (CMAA), Nestle, Ricegrowers' Association of Australia (RGA), Smartrivers, Dairy Farmers and the National Food Industry Council (NFIS). We have unique access to Members of Parliament, bureaucratic stakeholders and government bodies relevant to this area and have the skills, creativity and influence to generate the best outcomes for our clients.

Transport, infrastructure and aviation

Transport, Aviation and Infrastructure is one the most capital intensive and user focused sectors, covering the spectrum of stakeholders in the government and regulatory sphere through to the capital markets and the communities and end-users of the assets. Parker & Partners transport, aviation and infrastructure practise has achieved outcomes delivering billion dollar revenue streams for clients across the Australasia. P&P has successfully argued both sides of the liberalisation debate both here in Australia and in Asia, through proactive stakeholder and government relations and strategic communications campaigns.

There is an inextricable link between transport and infrastructure. The convergence of economic growth and the reduction in carbon emissions will not come through reducing the quantum of transportation, but through the increased efficiency and capital investment in infrastructure assets. The construction and integration of motorways, sea and airports and freight corridors will deliver these outcomes. Through close partnership with our clients, P&P develops tailored and integrated campaigns that identify core motivations of user segments and stakeholders to positively influence perceptions.

Sustainability

No longer confined to the fringes of community consciousness, the environment and water are front and centre of public policy development in Australia. Environmental sustainability is now a vital component of any organisation's activities. The increasing legislative and regulatory frameworks relating to carbon emissions, environmental planning, biodiversity conservation, pollution, waste management, green procurement and recycling all have a direct impact on the financials of our clients.

Impacted by all three levels of government, and reflecting the often contradictory priorities between jurisdictions, one of the primary challenges is ensuring an appropriate balance is struck between conservation and sustainable development. Investment in new technologies is increasingly helping governments achieve this balance.

Our Sustainability team has a unique understanding of this fast-paced and continually evolving portfolio area, and has worked alongside Boral, Visy, Emirates Airlines, JPMorgan, Nestle, Newcrest Mining, Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and Ricegrowers' Association of Australia (RGA) to represent the interests of, and generate the best outcomes for, these clients.

Industry and resources

Industry and Resources is currently one of Australia’s most watched and reported on industries. With record contributions being made to the GDP and predictions of a continued boom, the sector is destined to remain an integral part of the Australian identity and political landscape. Parker & Partners offers specialised public affairs advice and services with a proven track record of results for our clients. P&P offers a talented team with broad expertise in the industry and resources sector including former political advisers, business operators and sustainability experts. Examples of the work we have done in this space include; issues and crisis management for WMC Resources in their takeover by Xstrata; profiling and media relations for leading ethanol producers Manildra Group and a valuable perceptions audit for Newcrest Mining.

Banking and finance

The banking and finance sector underpins Australia's economic prosperity. Recent issues such as the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the United States and the ripple effect that has had throughout the global economy demonstrates that the fortunes of the finance sector and global prosperity are closely aligned. With Australia increasingly becoming a hub of financial activity for the Asia Pacific sector, the banking and finance sector is key to Australia's future economic stability, inward investment and export growth.

The sector is also one of the most heavily regulated industries in Australia. Parker & Partners has the experience and know-how to help financial services organisations deliver a successful public affairs campaign and navigate the various layers of Government to argue your case.

P&P has successfully assisted a number of leaders in the banking and finance sector to engage with Government and influence decision making - including Merrill Lynch, ABN AMRO, JP Morgan, BNP Paribas, Macquarie Bank, HBOS, Virgin Money and the Association of Superannuation Funds Australia.
